Position Summary The classroom Teacher is a cornerstone of Lawrence Public Schools. As an English Teacher, your area of expertise will be used to enrich the academic lives of the students of Wetherbee School. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Take responsibility to be a strong, positive force daily in your classroom—consistently and thoughtfully motivate students to work hard and want to learn. Design, implement, and collaborate around high-quality shared curricula that incorporate research-based strategies to help students master Massachusetts and Common Core standards. Motivate students to reach high achievement by setting class-wide and individual goals and providing specific, actionable feedback on their progress toward academic goals. Build supportive working relationships with fellow teachers, associate teachers, and staff, and provide regular feedback to help develop associate teachers. Other responsibilities as needed and assigned by administration. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Prior experience teaching English preferred. Ability to implement a safe, purposeful classroom environment that prioritizes learning for all students. Ability to collaborate with other teachers, instructional leaders, and partners to ensure instruction meets the needs of all students. Qualifications & Requirements Massachusetts Teacher Certification in appropriate area. Proficient in English. Bachelor's Degree Required. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
