AHA BLS provider certification course required within 90 days from date of hire. Minimum of three (3) months experience as a PCT or currently in a junior semester of an Associates or Bachelor’s nursing program. Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities General knowledge of high school subject matter including sciences, simple medical procedures/terminology, and office equipment. BLS certification is required 90 days from date of hire. Essential Responsibilities Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing, specific patient care tasks per scope of service and as directed by the Registered Nurse. Assists with admissions, transfers, discharges and transport of patients. Obtains and records vital signs, weights, and blood glucose testing; reports abnormalities and condition changes to the primary nurse promptly. Demonstrates competence in advanced skills such as oral suctioning, dressing changes after an RN assessment, tube feeding setup, external catheter, post-mortem care and suction canister setup. Communicates effectively with the health care team; documents legibly on hospital forms and participates in shift handoffs and rounds. Provides personalized care to patients and families; documents special needs as appropriate. Utilizes educational materials and attends mandatory in-services to maintain unit competencies. Uses materials, equipment and time in a safe, therapeutic and cost-effective manner. Assists with code situations under direction of the Code Blue Team. Adheres to infection control and safety policies, including using two identifiers when taking samples or performing procedures. Maintains cleanliness of the unit and related areas as requested. Maintains REACH values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, Honor). Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance. Performs other duties as required.
