Job Overview

We are seeking a certified Athletic Trainer to join an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team supporting a large-scale injury prevention program within a distribution and fulfillment environment. This role combines injury prevention, ergonomic assessment, and first aid responsibilities to help maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

The Injury Prevention Specialist (IPS) will proactively identify ergonomic risks, provide first aid and injury management support, educate employees on proper body mechanics, and partner with site leadership to reduce workplace injuries. This is a highly visible, hands-on role that requires strong communication skills and a passion for employee health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide triage, first aid, and referrals to outside medical providers when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records of all first aid care provided to employees.
• Reduce workplace injury risk through education, coaching, and proactive intervention.
• Conduct ergonomic and biomechanical assessments of work tasks and job functions.
• Observe employees performing job duties and provide coaching on proper body mechanics and safe work techniques.
• Lead daily stretching and warm-up routines during startup meetings.
• Develop a thorough understanding of all warehouse departments and job functions to identify injury risks and recommend improvements.
• Analyze injury trends and develop action plans to address recurring soft tissue injuries.
• Prepare daily activity logs and provide regular updates to site safety and leadership teams.
• Conduct monthly incident analyses and present recommendations to reduce injury frequency and severity.
• Provide accommodation recommendations for employees working under medical restrictions.
• Partner with management and associates to improve workplace ergonomics and standard work processes.
• Spend significant time on the warehouse floor interacting with employees, identifying at-risk behaviors, and promoting safe work practices.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) or equivalent state certification.
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Current CPR certification at the Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers level (American Heart Association) or Professional Rescuer certification (American Red Cross).
• Ability to maintain all required medical certifications and credentials.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse or fulfillment center environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an occupational health, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
• Certified instructor for First Aid, CPR, and AED training.
• Experience supporting industrial wellness programs.
• Knowledge of Workers' Compensation processes and injury management programs.
• Previous experience leading teams, training employees, or managing health and safety initiatives.

Compensation: 

$32.30/hr to $39.40/hr. 

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. 

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
