Controls Technician

Description The role involves supporting the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of plant electrical and automated control systems. Responsibilities include assisting with PLC/HMI programming, instrumentation, electrical equipment, technical documentation, and controls-related projects under senior guidance. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with electrical panel layouts, wiring changes, and equipment modifications. Help in selecting, installing, and replacing electrical, PLC, HMI, and instrumentation components. Create and maintain electrical schematics and technical documentation. Participate in meetings involving electrical hardware, controls, or programming. Make routine PLC and HMI programming changes with guidance. Work with operators to identify and solve controls-related issues. Follow electrical safety requirements and report concerns. Maintain records affecting Arc Flash Hazard Analysis documentation. Support maintenance projects involving instrumentation, electrical equipment, and controls systems. Troubleshoot issues with electrical equipment, instrumentation, and controls hardware. Maintain organized documentation and backups of controls files. Assist with PLC-to-database troubleshooting and modifications. Monitor network and hardware health, addressing issues as needed. Education and/or Experience Preferred: Associate degree or technical certificate in Electrical Technology, Electronics, Automation, Industrial Maintenance, or related field; equivalent experience considered. Minimum Requirements Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems and controls. Hands-on experience in electrical maintenance or industrial controls preferred. Working knowledge of PLC and HMI systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and documentation. Familiarity with industrial instrumentation and control devices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Understanding of safe electrical work practices. Basic understanding of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing. #J-18808-Ljbffr
