As astrategic discipline, the team aligns business vision, product direction, and technology executioninto an end-to-end unified model that drives clarity, consistency, and accelerates enterprise-wide technology transformation. Operating at the intersection of strategy, design, and delivery,the team shapes the Enterprise Business Capability Model (EBCM) and the operatingframeworks that enable product, engineering, and business functions to innovate and deliverfuture-ready outcomes at scale, and unlock enterprise impact with speed, trust, and efficiency.Ideal Candidate Profile:• A strategic systems thinker with the ability to see the “enterprise whole” and connectdisparate moving parts into a unified blueprint• A management consulting-caliber communicator/storyteller, with exceptional executivepresence and analytical rigor• A collaborator who excels at bringing Product, Engineering, and Business leaders intoalignment• A builder who can create frameworks, models, and governance structures that scale• A change leader energized by complexity, ambiguity, and enterprise transformation• A risk-architecture oriented leader with experience connecting business capabilities,processes, controls, operational risk, regulatory obligations, and data governance intoenterprise architecture blueprintResponsibilitiesEnterprise Business Architecture Leadership & Strategic Influence• Define and evolve enterprise business capability model, value streams, and operatingmodel blueprints.• Establish clear business architecture standards, principles, and governance to guidetransformation initiatives.• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business, product, and technology leaders onstructural and strategic design decisions.• Embed risk architecture considerations into capability models, value streams, andtransformation roadmaps, including RCSA, control taxonomy as well as regulatory,privacy, and data traceability.• Shape and socialize enterprise blueprints through compelling executive storytelling,ensuring alignment across Product, Engineering, Technology, Operations, and BusinessunitsEnterprise Modernization & Complex Use Case Enablement:• Translate enterprise and line-of-business strategies into actionable capability roadmapsand transformation journeys for high-impact enterprise use cases• Conduct capability-to-technology mapping and journey/process analysis to identifysynergies, redundancies, and modernization opportunities.• Partner with Enterprise Architecture to align business capabilities with certified APIs,data models, and integration patterns• Maintain authoritative architectural artifacts including capability maps, value streams,process models, and investment frameworks• Develop architecture traceability across complex risk-driven usecases.Executive Communication:• Craft clear, persuasive narratives (decks, POV, storyline white paper etc.) thatcommunicate capability-driven decisions to C-level and senior leadership• Drive alignment across senior stakeholders to shape integrated architectures that reduceredundancy, enable reuse, and accelerate modernizationOrganizational Leadership & Team Development:• Work with a high-performing team of business architects and analysts, setting vision,elevating craft, and strengthening enterprise-wide capability rigor• Establish standards, best practices, and repeatable frameworks that enable consistentadoption of Business Architecture across the organizationInnovation, Emerging Technology & GenAI Integration:• Identify and promote opportunities to leverage Generative AI, automation, andadvanced analytics to modernize processes and improve operational performance.• Champion innovation in capability design, process transformation, and enterpriseoperating frameworksMeasurement, Value Realization & Regulatory Alignment:• Ensure all architecture and transformation work aligns with regulatory, risk, andcompliance requirements• Partner with Risk, Compliance, Privacy, Enterprise Data Office, and Technology teams toensure architecture decisions proactively address operational risk, data risk, controleffectiveness, and regulatory readiness.• Use KPIs, OKRs, scorecards, and architectural fitness metrics to guide leadershipdecisions and demonstrate return on investmentQualifications8-10 years experience in Business Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, strategy, oroperating model design within a large, complex organization• Deep expertise in business architecture practices (e.g. business capability modeling,value streams, domain modeling, operating model)• Experience applying business architecture to risk domains• Experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks (TOGAF/BizBOK - conceptualfamiliarity is a must, certification will be a plus)• Strong understanding of enterprise platforms, API ecosystems, integrationarchitectures, and operating model transformation.• Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and facilitate alignment across large,matrixed organizations• Experience shaping cross-functional frameworks across Product, Engineering,Operations, and Business units• Exceptional executive storytelling capability, with a proven ability to translate complexstrategies into clear, compelling narratives for senior leadership• Hands-on experience developing board-level and executive-committee materials,including strategic storylines, transformation updates, and enterprise decisionframeworksPreferred Qualifications:• Prior experience at a top tier Management Consulting firm (i.e. McKinsey / BCG / Bain /Accenture / Deloitte etc) is highly desirable• MBA or Master’s degree in Business, Strategy, Information Systems, or related field• Prior American Express experience or experience in a global financial services/ payments enterprise• Experience in risk architecture, regulatory architecture, data governance, risk, privacy, orcontrol taxonomy initiatives within a global financial services environment is stronglypreferred.• Background in large-scale modernization, persistent capacity models, platformrationalization, or M&A integration a strong plus• Familiarity with API productization, domain-driven design, merchant and/or B2Bpartner integration needs, and capability-driven governance models a strong plusDepending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and appilcable laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions.
