Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)


Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience


License: RN License in good standing


Certifications:
BLS (American Heart Association)
ACLS (American Heart Association)
PALS (American Heart Association)


Must-Have:
EPIC experience required
Trauma level 2 or higher preferred


Description:
The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver.
They assume responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame.
They provide care to these patients utilizing the nursing process and current trends.
They ensure the integration of technology, financial, and human resources within the institution's philosophy.


Essential Functions include:
Performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.
Implementing procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided.
Completing initial assessments upon patient admission.
Developing appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
Implementing the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
Modifying the plan of care based on continuous evaluation.
Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting safety hazards.
Communicating directly and privately to resolve issues.
Offering constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers.
Conferring with colleagues to expand their knowledge base.
Identifying their own learning needs and taking the initiative to begin appropriate solutions.
Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies.


Department Specific Functions include:
Implementing procedures and theories specific to Emergency Department nursing.
Performing patient assessments and developing care plans in collaboration with providers, families, and patients.
Executing plans of care and nursing interventions.
Modifying care plans based on continuous assessment.
Ensuring patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions.
Adhering to safety standards and correcting/reporting safety hazards.
Effectively communicating and collaborating with staff, visitors, and families.
Providing feedback to peers to aid in professional development and problem-solving.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.


Schedule Notes:
There are 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule period.
Call shifts are 13 hours, with the expectation that the traveler is onsite within an hour.
A 2-week nights rotation is required for all travelers.
No block scheduling is available.
