Shift time: Wed & Fri 10am-12pm Position Info: Current District Employees must apply within 5 days of the position posting date or the position will remain open until filled. Job Info: This is a non-continuing, one-year position. Pay is prorated based on actual fte worked. Pay range is for 2025-26; 2026-27 pay rates pending board approval. Wednesdays and Fridays 10:00-Noon plus 8 full day (7 hour) training days. TITLE Classroom Teacher - SVEC REPORTS TO Building Principal POSITION SUMMARY The classroom teacher, under the direction of the Building Principal, will create a program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students which facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in life, and establish good relationships and rapport with students, parents and staff members. The teacher will document student progress, activities and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework and professional growth activities. Preferred Qualifications Education and Experience Valid teaching certificate for the State of Washington with required endorsement. Multiple Endorsements preferred. Experience in teaching in an alternative school, preferably a parent partnership program. Prior experience in the school setting preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. Ability to work with minimum direction, but work as an effective member of a team. Current valid CPR and First Aid may be required for the specific assignment. Experience with Homeschooling. Special Requirements Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance. I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act. HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided). Physical/Mental Requirements The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. This is a sedentary position with light work that involves sitting a portion of the time, but does require walking and standing for extended periods. This position requires accurate perception of sound, near and far vision, depth perception; handling and working with educational and psychological materials; and providing highly technical oral and written information and reports. The job is performed with the majority spent indoors and under minimal temperature variations; a portion of the day will be time spent outdoors and is subject to a variety of changing weather conditions and potentially uneven/slippery surfaces. Employment Conditions This position is that of classroom teacher and is represented by the Monroe Education Association collective bargaining unit. The position will work a schedule in coordination with the District student calendar. Salary and benefits as determined by the current collective bargaining agreement. Employee is required to complete all mandatory district trainings. Evaluation Procedures The classroom teacher shall be evaluated by the Building Principal according to currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee’s performance of the above position responsibilities. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree preferred.
