To learn more about Cypress Creek Hospital visit our website at: The Intake Registered Nurse is responsible for nursing care, medical screening, and triage for all psychiatric/chemical dependency patients presenting for assessment and evaluation. RN assists in coordinating the admission process for inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient programs and to facilitate referrals for outpatient treatment services and other community resources. Hours are based on departmental, and facility needs and may include day, evening, and weekend hours, as directed by the CEO/Managing Director. Job Duties/Responsibilities: * Perform initial medical screening. * Perform admissions assessments/evaluations. * Assess, direct, and intervene in crisis situations. * Administer medications as ordered by physician. * Perform nurse to nurse screening by phone on patients being transferred from other facilities. * Obtain/document pre-certification on admissions as necessary. * Handle in-take calls, set appointments and complete follow-up as necessary. * Facilitate referrals to outpatient treatment services as necessary. * Communicate patient needs to unit nurses, physicians, and families. * Report unsafe conditions. * Provides age-specific communication, limit setting and interventions. * Provides health education to patients and their families. * Interact with patients and staff in professional manner, promotes teamwork and demonstrates Service Excellence * Attend mandatory staff meetings. * Perform other duties as assigned.
