Education Coordinator, Inpatient - Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Inpatient Education Coordinator – Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) We are searching for an Inpatient Education Coordinator – Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) who works well in a fast‑paced setting. In this position you will provide education and administrative support for unit operations to ensure effective and efficient implementation of key educational processes at the unit level. We are proud to welcome patients to our 27,000-square‑foot facility in the Lester and Sue Smith Legacy Tower – a space dedicated exclusively to ACHD patients and run by our ACHD team. Features include: 16 universal care beds equipped for all levels of treatment Integrated inpatient/outpatient space Cardiac rehabilitation gym Diagnostics lab Responsibilities Designs, implements, and evaluates a cost‑effective unit‑based orientation pathway for each job as measured by leadership team feedback. Individualizes orientation pathways to meet specific learning needs of staff. Coordinates and conducts required training to close performance gaps in knowledge and skills, using organizational policies, unit‑specific data, and accrediting standards. Implements a unit‑based plan for staff competence on all shifts that results in improved performance. Assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, evaluates, and documents patient care. Performs and documents assessment of patient/family needs, develops an individualized plan of care, and ensures it is discussed within 24 hours of admission, with updates as conditions change. Orients and develops preceptors. Provides a unit‑based process for preceptor orientation, professional development, and support, and coordinates the clinical experience for students. Participates in the Quality Outcomes Program and/or unit‑based quality initiatives to educate staff and monitor clinical outcomes that demonstrate nursing excellence. Collaborates with leadership to review performance, establish action plans, and evaluate outcomes. Provides administrative support for unit operations, including adjusting staff schedules for orientation needs and assuming on‑call responsibilities as needed. Undergoes respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Nursing 2 years of clinical nursing experience and 1 year of preceptor or educator experience preferred RN – Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact BLS – Basic Life Support certification by the American Heart Association Critical Care nursing experience highly preferred Texas Children’s is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
