The lab technician is responsible for performing lab tests, verifying samples, documentation, and taking necessary corrective actions whenever a product and/or process is out of spec. Candidate will also ensure that all safety precautions are followed in the lab, with appropriate PPE being utilized at all times.

 

Duties and responsibilities

·         Order materials needed to operate lab activities

·         Maintain day-to-day operation of testing

·         Collect and interpret data; prepare reports

·         Provide support for making process decisions based upon test results

·         Document and communicate all data for receivables, tracking, and verification

·         Maintain knowledge of general chemistry/microbiology, and the theory of lab analysis

·         Ensure that all data is as accurate and precise as analytically possible

·         Ability to recognize any potential issues and address them calmly and professionally

·         Understand and perform lab policies and procedures

·         Report any health and safety issues

·         Maintain cleanliness of lab environment

·         Understand computer programs used for lab equipment and lab operation

·         Familiar with equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting

·         Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot, adjust, and repair routine equipment issues

·         Ensure operation of analytical instruments is properly maintained and calibrated

·         Document and communicate all issues regarding product quality and instruments

·         Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books

·         Resolve problems as they arise by examining and evaluating data

·         Understand and complete projects within turnaround time

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related science
• Or 2+ years experience
• Able to visually observe lab tests and discriminate subtle differences
• Capable of using precision-measuring testing equipment
• Ability to operate in multiple environments; including a plant environment, lab environment, and office environment
• Ability to work overtime as needed

Salary: Commensurate with Experience and Abilities.

• 12 months of related experience
