Quality Assurance Specialist – Urbana, OHThe Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for inspecting and verifying that materials and products meet all applicable requirements. This role performs a variety of simple to complex quality tasks with minimal supervision, including inspections, auditing, dimensional studies, testing, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and supporting APQP/PPAP processes. This position is essential in preventing defects, maintaining quality systems, and directly impacting customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:Perform in-process inspections, final inspections, and product certificationsInspect product throughout manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with design and quality specificationsPerform receiving inspection or act as designated supplier quality representativeConduct measurement system analysis, dimensional studies, product testing, and capability studiesRecord, monitor, and report on scrap and rework (FTY/FPY)Support creation and maintenance of control plans and product specification sheetsEnsure products meet quality standards using measurement and testing equipmentAuditing & Compliance:Perform process and product audits per sampling plans and audit schedulesDocument and report audit findingsConduct audits of QMS processes, manufacturing activities, certification audits, surveillance audits, re-certification audits, and supplier auditsDevelop, update, and maintain QMS documentation including policies, procedures, and work instructionsSupport CAPA initiatives and monitor effectivenessSupport APQP & PPAP activitiesData Analysis & Reporting:Gather, analyze, and report data to evaluate the health and performance of the QMS and manufacturing processesCommunicate findings, issues, and concerns across departmentsMonitor trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvementCollaboration & Training:Support and train quality inspectors as neededAssist or instruct others in daily quality activitiesCommunicate with all departments on issues and support timely resolutionMaintain knowledge and skills to perform all assigned work efficientlyGeneral & Safety:Follow all health, safety, and housekeeping practices (6S)Wear required PPE (safety glasses, safety-toe footwear, hearing protection, etc.)Maintain adherence to all instructions, specifications, and proceduresParticipate in special projects and perform other related duties as assignedQualifications:High school diploma or GED required3–5 years of quality or manufacturing-related experienceExperience handling sensitive and confidential materialASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferredSix Sigma Green Belt or higher preferredLead Auditor Certification (ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent) preferredUnderstanding of quality control standards and problem-solving toolsAbility to read engineering drawings/blueprints; knowledge of GD&TFamiliarity with root-cause analysis methods (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, etc.)Proficient with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.)Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle)Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with data tools such as Minitab, Tableau, or Power BIKnowledge of ISO 9001 standards and QMS requirementsStrong communication skillsDetail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentAbility to follow written, oral, and diagram instructionsStrong problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and professionally interact with all organizational levelsPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the shiftLift 25–50 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above shouldersAbility to stand for extended periods and work at a computer occasionallyMental Requirements:Ability to work in a fast-paced environmentAdapt easily to assignment changesAbility to multi-task and learn new software applicationsMust communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and managementSafety Requirements:Wear safety glasses with side shields, safety-toed footwear, hearing protection, and additional PPE as requiredFollow all plant and department-specific safety rulesDirection & Decision Making:Complete directives given verbally or in writingMake logical decisions and assist in problem-solving as requiredWork Environment:Warehouse and manufacturing environmentsExposure to hot/cold temperatures and dustRelationships:Direct Contacts: Quality Assurance Manager, production personnel, quality inspectorsIndirect Contacts: Departments throughout the Urbana plantIf you require reasonable accommodation for any part of the application or hiring process due to a disability, you may contact the company's Human Resources Department at View phone number on click.appcast.io.Rittal LLC and Eplan are proud to be an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
