Incorporated in 1965, Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation (JFCAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to assisting low-income individuals, and families, achieve self-sufficiency through quality programs in Jefferson and Franklin Counties. We are a federal, state, and locally funded Community Action Agency. JFCAC offers a variety of impactful programs for eligible individuals and families, from early childhood education, rental and utility assistance to home upgrades that improve energy efficiency and creates safer living environments. To carry out our mission and expand our impact, we are seeking a dedicated individual to step into an important role within our Head Start Program - The Family Coach. This is an on-site role supporting daily center operations. As a Family Coach you will be a key member of our Head Start team, working directly with families to support their goals, strengthen self-sufficiency, and promote overall family well-being. In this role you will partner with parents and caregivers to identify needs, build on strengths and connect them with resources that support long-term stability.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Team Supervisor, the Family Coach is responsible for delivering high-quality services in: family engagement, health, and wellness through a program coaching model mandated by the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS). Ensuring that service delivery is conducted in the home environment with families enrolled in the center base program model.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
School Readiness/Inclusion: Engage enrolled families in discussions about educational program options for their child, plan for transition to kindergarten and/or other program enrollment and provide support to the family during the transition process. May be asked to participate in IEP and IFSP meetings as needed Family Engagement and Community Partnerships: Initiate collaborative partnerships with families to establish mutual trust and respect. Implement, document and report on the recruitment, selection and enrollment of eligible children and their families. Directly coach and support the parent in developing skills to have positive, meaningful interactions with their child. Meet with families for in person goal setting and assessments per program policy. Directly provide education, coaching and support to parents/guardians in the areas of child development, family development, health, safety, nutrition, and mental health/wellness. Provide resources and referrals as needed for individual families, connecting families in ways that will support their family goals and wellness. Maintain professional relationship and/or contact with local service providers, organizations and/or agencies who provide resources to families. Provide appropriate supports and resources for emotional well-being, nurturing, responsive caregiving, and family engagement to support positive child outcomes. Coordinate with Home Visitors and Family Committee to plan Group Connections/Family Events for children and families based on Head Start Policy. Build partnerships with community partners and families. Recruit throughout the community and host recruitment events. Plan Open House with Team Supervisor Have conversations with families about subsidy (if applicable) Provide family support for Family Success Plans and Attendance Success Plans. Health and Safety: Collaborate with the family to ensure and/or facilitate obtaining an ongoing source of continuous, accessible health care provided by a health care professional and, as appropriate, health insurance coverage. Facilitate access to comprehensive services that include, but are not limited to school readiness, health, nutrition, food assistance, oral health care, mental health/wellness services, counseling, substance abuse, prevention and/or treatment, and/or emergency shelter/housing. Collaborate with families to ensure 30, 45, 90 day requirements are met. Documentation: Monitor and document daily attendance including: Concerns and follow up with families Follow and implement the attendance policy per HSPPS. Complete and maintain timely and accurate data entry and/or documentation as required. Ensure the strategies, skills, support, and procedures are delivered in accordance with HSPPS, program policies, philosophies, and goals. Additional Duties: May be asked to advise for FDC. Support other staff as needed at designated site. Report to non-designated locations as needed. Perform other duties as assigned based on program need. Professional Development: Participate in professional development as required. Maintain confidentiality of family records and/or all program information.REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of Associate's degree in social sciences, human services, or related field with a minimum of 9 social service credits; or 2 years work experience in social services may be substituted for Associate degree. At least 2 years documented work experience in family development, social work, human services, and/or psychology preferred. Experience working with low-income families, child or family preferred. FDC Credential (provided by the program) must be obtained within 18 months of hire. Willing to submit to Criminal Background Screenings Must have a valid/active driver’s license Must have reliable transportation Travel to/from clients' homes Travel to/from meetings/trainings throughout Jefferson and/or Franklin CountyOTHER REQUIRED CAPABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to problem solve, handle crisis, and work with families and children of various cultures and low-income backgrounds. Ability to work primarily in the homes with families residing in high-risk communities. Ability to establish positive working relationships with families, agency staff, and community members. Physically able to stand for long periods of time as well as stooping, squatting, running, and lifting an estimated 50 lbs.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
