The Orting School District is seeking applicants for the position of Head Wrestling Coach at Orting Middle School. Orting Middle School, a member of the Plateau League, is committed to providing excellence in all of its extra-curricular programs. The head coach oversees and runs the entire middle school wrestling sports program.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1. Experience in coaching/participating in wrestling
2. Knowledge of wrestling techniques and strategies
3. Be able to meet all W.I.A.A. requirements for the Washington State Coaching Standards
4. Ability to communicate positively and effectively with students, parents, staff and community members
5. Effective written and oral communication skills
6. Strong organizational skills necessary to run a solid middle school program
7. Successful experience working with teenage athletes
8. Ability to motivate teens to reach their highest potential academically through sportsmanship
9. Experience preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Be high school graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency diploma (GED) program
2. Be at least 21 years of age to be a head coach
3. Current first aid and CPR training
4. Flexible Schedule
5. Must be available immediately after school - 2:25 pm

Location: Orting Middle School
Work Year: 2026-27 Middle School Early Winter Season: 10/26/2026 - 12/17/2026
Work Start: Middle school dismissal is 2:25PM, M-Th and 12:55PM on F

For coaching positions, eligibility for benefits is determined by a number of factors, including the number of hours an employee worked during the last two (2) school years (September 1 through August 31). Regular employees who are also in coaching position(s) and are anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program.
