Responsibilities

• Draw blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures for clinical and forensic collections.
• Prepare specimens for lab testing, ensuring proper labeling and documentation to maintain sample integrity and chain of custody.
• Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signatures post-venipuncture to confirm specimen labeling accuracy.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of procedures performed, adhering to confidentiality and compliance standards.
• Create a trusting environment by explaining procedures clearly and ensuring patient comfort and safety during blood collection.
• Support a safe and professional environment by following safety protocols and policies, including infection control and safety practices.
• Perform venipuncture in various settings, such as patient service centers, doctor's offices, or mobile collection sites, as needed.
• Handle multiple priorities efficiently in a high-volume setting, demonstrating organization and professionalism at all times.

Required Skills

• Proven proficiency in phlebotomy, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills for interacting with diverse patients and healthcare team members.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling and documentation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
• Physical ability to perform blood draws, including standing for extended periods and handling equipment.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed across multiple locations.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record if applicable.
