Job Title

This position involves coaching, teaching, mentoring, and providing direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, or epilepsy. Services are primarily provided in a group home setting to meet the personal needs of the members.

Schedules

There are four different scheduled shifts available:

• Schedule #1: Off Monday and Tuesday
• Schedule #2: Off Tuesday and Wednesday
• Schedule #3: Off Wednesday and Thursday (two positions available)
• Schedule #4: Off Thursday and Friday

Responsibilities

• Provide activities and programming to encourage the development and maintenance of skills.
• Assist members with activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, dressing, and mealtime.
• Perform housekeeping duties including dusting, laundry, dishwashing, mopping, and disinfecting equipment.
• Prepare, cook, set up, and serve meals as needed, adhering to specialized diets.
• Implement Person-Centered Service Plans, including behavior support and therapeutic programs.
• Participate in team meetings to develop individual support plans.
• Administer basic health care, including medication administration.
• Encourage and involve members in recreational activities at home and in the community.

Requirements

• Flexibility in schedule, including working different shifts, overtime, and changing work locations.
• Ability to lift/carry at least 50 lbs. and push/pull at least 50 lbs.
• Proficiency in using computers, including email and planning activities.
• Effective communication with members verbally and/or through sign language.
• Time and work management skills.
• Advocacy for members and participation in implementing Individual Support Plans.
• Capability in cleaning and basic housekeeping, providing personal care, and basic cooking.
• Proficiency in reading and writing in English and understanding spoken and written directions.
• Compassion and respect for others.
• Attend staff training and apply program training principles and data collection methods.
• Use computer systems for timesheet entry and computer-based training.
• Apply basic physical, occupational, and speech therapy techniques.
• Perform proper lifting techniques and general body mechanics.
• Utilize nutritional principles and special mealtime techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of direct care experience.
• Experience with developmental disabilities.
• Training and experience in prevention and support/client intervention.
