Summary Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist II establishes and maintains the sterile field for surgical procedures. The role facilitates procedures by anticipating and responding to the needs of the surgeon and other team members, ensuring quality patient care. Additionally, the technologist assists with support services in the delivery of care to operative patients, including transportation, inventory management, environmental cleanliness, and direct assistance to patients, visitors, and staff. Position Highlights Acts as a scrub person or assists circulator handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during procedures. Anticipates and responds to the surgeon’s and surgical team’s needs, ensuring quality patient care. Assists with support services such as transportation, inventory management, environmental cleanliness, and direct assistance to patients, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities Prepare and maintain a sterile field. Support the surgical team throughout the procedure. Assist the registered nurse, anesthesia, and surgical team in developing the plan of care for each procedure. Qualifications At least 2 years of experience as a surgical technologist in any operating room environment. Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through either the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Scrub experience. Experience in orthopedics, robotic surgery, and thoracic surgery. Credentials and Additional Requirements Graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist program, or 10 years of relevant experience recognized in lieu of program or certification. Must hold and maintain CST certification throughout employment. Preferred: 2 years of relevant clinical experience as a surgical technologist in an operating room environment.
