Assistant/Associate Professor in Community Practice Job Summary: Clinical Track or Tenure Track faculty position in Small Animal Medicine with a focus on community outreach. Responsibilities Participate in classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, graduate students, interns, and graduate veterinarians. Participate in providing client services to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), with emphasis on Small Animal Community Practice. Provide supervision and training to students and rotating interns in physical examinations, diagnosis, treatment, general care and interpersonal communication (client, patient care team, etc.). Participate in clinical and laboratory instruction for and supervision and evaluation of veterinary students and interns with hands‑on instruction, and case‑based rounds or small‑group didactic sessions. Participate in didactic course instruction for and evaluation of veterinary students. Development and teaching of assigned topics in curriculum courses, participate in student rounds sessions and participate in student performance evaluations. Participate in community outreach service activities including the Mobile Practice service. Develop innovative teaching and service programs. Development of strong professional relationships with referring veterinarians. Participation in state and national outreach and continuing education. Participation on college and university committees. Participate in creative scholarship in small animal clinical medicine for professional development. Preferred Qualifications DVM or equivalent degree is required. Successful completion of a rotating internship program or 3 years of small animal clinical experience. Physical Demands Ability to operate standard office equipment. Ability to walk short distances. Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items. Ability to view a computer terminal. Skills and Attributes Must possess interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a collegial and diverse team environment. Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others as a team member. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
