Step Into High Impact Accounting Work Across Portland NOW CFO is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Accounting Manager Consultant to support clients throughout the Portland, Oregon market. This role is ideal for a well‑rounded accounting professional who enjoys variety, client interaction, and solving complex accounting challenges. You will work across multiple businesses and industries, helping strengthen accounting operations, improve financial reporting, and support leadership teams with accurate financial information. Unlike a traditional Accounting Manager role tied to one company, this position offers exposure to a range of client environments, systems, and business models. Candidates must be located in or willing to commute throughout the Portland metro area and surrounding markets, including Vancouver, Salem, and nearby communities. What You’ll Do Manage full‑cycle accounting operations, including AP, AR, General Ledger, billing, payroll support, and revenue recognition Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules Ensure financial reporting follows GAAP and accounting best practices Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis Partner directly with CFOs, Controllers, CEOs, and business owners Improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting processes Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability Assist with audits, tax preparation, and external reporting Support Controller‑level responsibilities as needed Manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred Five or more years of progressive accounting experience Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar leadership experience Strong full‑cycle accounting and month‑end close experience Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Experience across multiple industries or business models preferred Familiarity with systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms Advanced Excel skills and strong systems adaptability Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving abilities Comfortable working directly with executive leadership and business owners Willingness to travel to client locations throughout Portland, Vancouver, Salem, and surrounding areas Why NOW CFO Work with a variety of clients and industries Build broader accounting and Controller‑level experience Make a direct impact on client operations and financial performance Solve new business challenges instead of repeating the same routine Join a collaborative consulting team with opportunities for continued growth This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on Accounting Manager who wants greater variety, broader experience, and the chance to make an impact across multiple organizations.
