The position will provide evaluation and treatment for work-related injuries, acute illnesses, and urgent medical concerns, with a primary focus on occupational medicine and employee health services. The Nurse Practitioner will provide occupational surveillance services, including audiograms, blood lead testing, fitness-for-duty examinations, vaccinations, and medical screenings in accordance with OSHA and Department of State requirements. The role will also provide emergency triage, coordinate referrals when appropriate, maintain accurate medical records, and support workers' compensation processes and clinical protocols. The position requires an active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license, current BLS certification, and primary care experience. Occupational health experience is preferred.Core ResponsibilitiesProvide occupational health and primary care support services for Department of State employees and traineesEvaluate, diagnose, and manage work-related injuries and acute illnessesProvide urgent and emergent patient evaluation and triage servicesConduct occupational surveillance examinations, including audiograms, blood testing, and lead exposure physicalsPerform fitness-for-duty examinations and medical screeningsAdminister vaccinations in accordance with Department of State requirementsCoordinate referrals and handoffs for emergent or specialized care when appropriateMaintain accurate and complete medical documentation and recordsSupport workers' compensation processes and occupational health protocolsCollaborate with clinic staff and administrative personnel to ensure continuity of care and effective communicationFollow established clinical guidelines, protocols, and standard operating proceduresProvide input regarding clinical process improvements and occupational health best practicesRequirementsActive Virginia Nurse Practitioner licenseCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationMinimum of two years of primary care experience requiredMinimum of one year of occupational health experience preferredExperience evaluating and treating work-related injuries and acute illnessesAbility to perform occupational health screenings and medical surveillance examinationsKnowledge of OSHA standards and occupational health protocols preferredStrong clinical assessment, triage, and emergency response skillsAbility to maintain accurate medical documentation and recordsStrong communication and collaboration skillsMust be a United States citizen or permanent residentThis job is CONTINGENT upon contract award, client approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk clearance.Final compensation will be based on relevant factors including work experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.
