Clinical Dietitian

Position Summary Office Assistant - NYU Langone Ambulatory Care - East Meadow. Responsible for basic front‑desk support for clinical intake operations, including pre‑authorizations and certifications with the exception of surgical procedures. Job Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. Provide reception assistance, greet patients, answer calls, and direct requests to the proper individual. Screen telephone callers in a pleasant and professional manner. Schedule routine appointments and follow‑ups for visits and procedures that do not require pre‑authorization. Refer all inquiries regarding pre‑authorizations and certifications to the appropriate person. Collect and complete patient‑related documents and enroll patients in Patient Secure when needed. Confirm patient appointments daily and maintain accurate system notations. Maintain the appointment schedule to avoid gaps. Check patients in and out, gather demographic data, and verify insurance eligibility electronically. Take patient photos and ask them to use Patient Secure. Collect co‑pays and other balances owed to the institution. Scan insurance cards, lab requisitions, and other documents into the intake system. Monitor the intake work queue to ensure timely completion. Ensure appropriate procedure and diagnosis coding during pre‑certification and verification processes. Assure accuracy of information by questioning physicians when appropriate. Assist patients with insurance coverage questions and refer them to the appropriate business office for financial counseling. Maintain professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff. Type routine materials accurately and according to instructions. Answer patient questions to ensure satisfaction and refer them to senior staff when necessary. Maintain confidentiality on privileged matters. Organize and update files, sort and distribute documents, and keep records in accordance with departmental procedures. Secure appropriate signatures and forward documents to correct destinations. Maintain supplies and cleanliness of the space, restocking as needed. Assist staff with training on intake‑related duties when required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills. Strong customer service skills and ability to multitask efficiently in a team environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, database and internet applications. Light, accurate keyboarding skills. Preferred Qualifications At least 6 months of experience in a physician practice office. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory. Salary Range The salary range for the role is $48,308.00 – $48,308.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
