Assistant Controller

Role Description Every successful project relies on teams that ensure job costs, budgets, contracts, and financial decisions move forward alongside the work happening in the field. Our finance team works closely with operations, project management, and leadership to help keep projects organized, compliant, and financially successful from start to finish. As our Assistant Controller, you will support the Corporate Controller in managing the accounting and financial functions tied to active environmental remediation and construction projects while contributing to the continued growth and success of the company. In this role, you will perform specialized construction accounting tasks while overseeing job costs, budgets, and company financial reporting. The Assistant Controller will develop an understanding of contracts in process and work independently to properly classify, record, and maintain project revenue and expense records. This position will routinely communicate with project managers, employees, vendors, and subcontractors regarding accounting matters. In addition, the Assistant Controller will manage the general ledger, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and work closely with the Controller to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements. Key Responsibilities Assist controller with compiling financial data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, filings, and audits Assist project managers with preparation and review of job budgets and projections Oversee cash management, supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, manage bank and credit card reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger Oversee daily timekeeping functions and review payroll weekly Manage tax compliance and ensure timely filing of local, state and federal taxes Develop, implement and maintain internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations Effectively coordinate and communicate accounting-related matters with staff within the organization Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations Positively contribute to the overall growth and improvement of the company’s reputation, market share, and operations This is a full-time onsite position. Remote work is not available. Qualifications - Required Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, mathematics, or in a closely related field. Qualifications - Preferred Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and Foundation (or other specialized construction accounting software) Strong financial reporting, federal and local taxes, and multi-state payroll Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task, manage work priorities, and effectively work within a deadline driven environment CPA certification Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt Location: Waterford, NY Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 per year #J-18808-Ljbffr LAND Remediation, Inc.
