We are looking for a skilled and qualified server for a full-time position of 3-4 shifts/week, Monday-Saturday. Candidates ought to be committed to delivering a high quality of service and working in a busy, fast-paced, and team-oriented setting.
Shifts last approximately 8-9 hours. It is important that applicants demonstrate the ability to work in high pressure situations, self-sufficiency, initiative, excellent knowledge of food and wine (especially coastal Mediterranean and Levantine cuisine), and unparalleled attention to detail and cleanliness, the appearance of the space, end-of-day responsibilities, etc. Candidates must have previous experience with wine service, and familiarity with regional wines of the Mediterranean. Familiarity with spirits and standard cocktails is strongly suggested.
Wages start at $11.35/hour, plus tips (average $250.00-300.00+/night). Candidates who possess the NYC Food Protection Certificate qualify for an increased hourly wage.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparation of restaurant with special attention to order and cleanliness.
- Creating seating plans and managing reservations with Opentable.
- Attending to customers upon entrance.
- Aiding customers in selecting food/beverages, answering any questions, and demonstrating a complete knowledge of our menu.
- Making recommendations for complementary products, upselling various offerings, and offering and successfully selling rotating specials.
- Taking and serving food and beverage orders.
- Ensure restaurant cleanliness during shift, as well as during closing.
- Direct/collaborate with other restaurant servers, kitchen/bar staff, and management.
- Deal with complaints/problems with a positive attitude.
- Issue bills and accept payment.
- Sign off on end-of-shift checklists (cleaning protocols, tip adjust, locking up).
- Employing conflict resolution strategies.
Skills:
- Previous experience with the OpenTable reservation system, and Toast (POS).
- Proven restaurant serving experience.
- Hands-on experience in cashier duties.
- Attention to cleanliness, safety, and hygiene. NYC Food Protection certificate is strongly encouraged.
- Patient and customer-oriented approach.
- Excellent people skills and friendly attitude.
- Possessing an excellent knowledge of food and wine.
- Possessing decision-making under pressure.
- Possess self-sufficiency.
Compensation: Hourly ($11.35 - $13.35) plus tips
Estimated Weekly Tips: $1,200.00
