Manufacturing Technician, Field Services

Ingersoll Rand

Manufacturing Technician, Field Services BH Job ID: BH-4207-5 SF Job Req ID: 18187 Title Manufacturing Tech & Site Installer, PVC & CPVC Location Sedalia, MO (Hybrid) About Us Imagine a company with technology leadership of over 160 years, yet it operates with the energy of a startup. Ingersoll Rand has dedicated itself to Making Life Better for its employees, customers, shareholders, and planets. We produce innovative and mission‑critical flow creation and life science technologies – from compressors to precision handling of liquids, gases, and powers – to increase industrial productivity, efficiency, and sustainability. Supported by over 80+ brands, our products are used in various end‑markets including life sciences, food and beverage, clean energy, industrial manufacturing, infrastructure, and more. Across the globe, we’re driving growth with an entrepreneurial spirit and ownership mindset. Job Overview Build it. Prove it. Start it up. On the floor and in the field, this isn’t a stay‑in‑one‑place technician role. As our Manufacturing Systems Technician, you’ll operate in two worlds – splitting your time between hands‑on fabrication in our Sedalia facility (~70%) and field support (~20‑30%). From cutting and assembling PVC/CPVC systems (with some stainless in the mix), this is precision, hands‑on work where what you build is exactly what ships – no separation between effort and outcome. The other 20‑30% of the time, you’re on‑site, in front of the customer, watching your system come to life. You’ll verify installations, run wet and leak testing, and troubleshoot in real time – making the call when something’s off and fixing it before it slows the project down. When things don’t go to plan – and sometimes they won’t – you’re the one who figures it out and keeps everything moving. We’re expanding and actively scaling, with a strong pipeline of projects already lined up. This is build mode, where your impact is visible from day one. If you read mechanical drawings and system layouts with confidence, work confidently in fabrication, and communicate clearly when it matters – especially under pressure – you’ll do well here. This role is built for someone who wants to go beyond building parts – someone who takes pride in building complete systems and seeing them through to successful startup and real‑world performance. Responsibilities Operate fabrication equipment including saws, drills, routers, CNC machines, and injection molding equipment to cut, drill, and assemble PVC/CPVC components. Measure, fit, and assemble parts according to shop drawings, blueprints, and work orders. Perform machine setups, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting to support efficient production operations. Conduct quality inspections to ensure products meet company standards and specifications. Maintain accurate production records and report material usage, equipment issues, or production concerns. Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals, schedules, and deadlines. Load and unload shipments, pick and pack orders, and assist with inventory management activities. Support field installations and system startups for aeration equipment, including inspections and functional verification. Assist with troubleshooting and communicate effectively with contractors, supervisors, and engineering teams during startup activities. Follow all workplace safety procedures while maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work environment. Requirements High School Diploma or GED. 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, field experience with equipment installation, startup, and troubleshooting. 1+ years of experience reading drawings, blueprints, and basic system layouts. Core Competencies Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and system layouts with strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools, power tools, and production equipment. Commitment to quality workmanship with strong attention to detail and adherence to production and inspection standards. Strong problem‑solving and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and resolve issues efficiently. Proficient computer and communication skills for documentation, reporting, production tracking, and collaboration across teams. Adaptable, dependable, and eager to learn new skills while supporting evolving production and field operations. Preferences Experience in pipe fabrication, plumbing, aeration systems, or plastics manufacturing. Familiarity with PVC solvent welding, mechanical fittings, or aeration diffuser systems. OSHA 10/30 safety training. Travel & Work Arrangements Based onsite in Sedalia, MO. National field travel up to 30%. Travel expenses covered.
