Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job Overview This is a position of responsibility, involving the support of persons receiving in‑home services and the implementation plans for each person supported. The position requires the implementation of policies and procedures relevant to compliance with Louisiana State Department of Health regulations and national best practice in the field of supports to persons experiencing disabilities and persons living longer. Responsibilities Function as a team member, providing a variety of supports and services to persons with disabilities and persons living longer. Assist in the development and implementation of the person‑centered plan for assigned persons. Provide required documentation and EVV check‑in for services provided during working hours consistent with participants plan of supports. Ensure that supports provided are in compliance with Louisiana laws and regulations regarding HCBS and ILI requirements. Attend/participate in education and staff development events assigned. Engage in active and ongoing communication and feedback with and on behalf of person supported. Support persons assigned to develop and maintain meaningful relationships. Support persons assigned to participate meaningfully in his/her community. Engage in supports that enhance and safeguard the persons health, safety, and wellbeing. Communicate regularly with supervisor including issues of changes in health status and/or interest and preferences.
