This position will work with automotive, heavy duty diesel trucks and construction equipment. Position Description BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (SUMMARY) : A Diesel Technician in our Thorp Shop will perform a variety of duties to keep the fleet of trucks and heavy equipment running properly. This includes maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing vehicles, equipment and tools, and performing routine maintenance. This position will entail a mix of hand-on wrenching, troubleshooting, and working with a team to keep the fleet moving. Primary Responsibilities:

- Perform preventative and routine maintenance/inspections on machines/vehicles/equipment
- Diagnosis, repairs, and rebuilds engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Inspect trucks, trailers, and equipment for safety, reliability, and DOT standards.
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues with heavy equipment.
- Weld or fabricate items as needed.
- Perform field services.
- Operates various tools, machines, and equipment as needed.
- Properly disposes of hazardous materials and recyclables.
- Keep accurate service records and logs.
- Work closely with Shop Foreman and other Technicians.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the needs of the organization.
- Education: Technical training in diesel mechanics, automotive technology, heavy equipment maintenance, or related field OR High School Diploma or GED with equivalent work experience
- Experience: Experience working on diesel trucks or heavy equipment
- Driver's License: CDL preferred but not required
- Able to read and interpret maintenance manuals and manufacturer's instructions
- Working knowledge of mechanical functions, internal combustion and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and pneumatics
- Able to work overtime as required
- Lifting up to 50lbs
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing under trucks and equipment
- Working with grease, oil, fuels, and shop chemicals
- Exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment
- Mix of indoor shop work and occasional outdoor/field work
