Hoag Urgent Care Medical AssistantThis position is for multiple Hoag Urgent Care sites across Orange County. Locations include: Tustin, Irvine, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, San Clemente, Trabuco Canyon, Foothill Ranch, and Costa Mesa. All positions will be open 7 days a week. Most positions are open from 8am-8pm with two exceptions.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for maintaining a highly professional environment, ensuring a collaborative relationship with patients and physicians. The MA will assist with the non-clinical tasks required to ensure smooth patient access and flow. The non-clinical responsibilities include pre-authorization processes and acting as a liaison between providers and patients. The MA will work collaboratively with staff to ensure all proper records are received and all appropriate testing is completed prior to appointment or surgery date. The MA will provide updates to staff and patients on timing and status for all above tasks that could impact the patient's health and/or testing and treatment options. Ensures even patient flow and continuous communication within Hoag and referring physician offices.This includes but is not limited to the following tasks:Scheduling patients (including follow-up office visits, imaging, and lab work)Preparation of appropriate chart elementsChecking vital signsRooming patientsAssisting with proceduresMay be required to start at a different location throughout the workweek or travel to multiple sites.QualificationsEducation and Experience Required:High school graduate or equivalent GED,Graduate of Medical Assistant program OR one year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment.Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and ExcelBasic knowledge of medical terminologyPreferred:Associate or Bachelors' degree in healthcare-related fieldMinimum one (1) year previous medical back-office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environmentWorking Knowledge of EPIC or other Electronic Medical Record system 'EMR'Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidatesCertifications Required:Current BLS CertificationCertifications Preferred:Medical Assistant CertificationCPR certificationCurrent Limited Phlebotomy CertificationAbout UsHoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is a nonprofit regional health care delivery network in Orange County, California, consisting of three acute-care hospitals with sixteen urgent care centers, eleven health centers and a network of more than1,800 physicians, 100 allied health members, 8,000 employees, and 2,000 volunteers.
