Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for geriatric clients, identifying individualized care needs and developing tailored treatment plans. \n
- Facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions that address emotional challenges associated with aging, including grief, loneliness, and adjustment to life changes. \n
- Work closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams—including physicians, social workers, and other mental health professionals—to create integrated care strategies for elderly clients. \n
- Provide education and resources to staff and family members regarding effective approaches to enhance mental wellness and emotional support for elderly individuals. \n
- Lead grief and loss counseling sessions to assist clients and their families in coping with end-of-life issues and transitions. \n
- Implement cognitive stimulation programs and therapeutic interventions aimed at improving mental acuity and emotional health among our senior clients. \n
The primary focus of this role is to support the elderly population in managing geriatric mental health concerns, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, and trauma related to life transitions. Our clients often deal with complex family dynamics and navigate significant emotional challenges, which requires a counselor who possesses both technical proficiency in mental health and a deep understanding of the unique emotional, cultural, and social factors affecting elderly individuals.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or related field from an accredited institution. \n
- Valid License as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). \n
- A minimum of 4 years of recent experience providing counseling within a geriatric setting. \n
