Maintenance Supervisor

Our client is a frozen appetizer and specialty potato product manufacturer offering a range of tasty finger foods, including twice-baked potatoes, potato skins, battered and breaded wedges, fried and filled skins, breakfast bites, extruded products, cheese sticks, and other assorted batter-and breaded vegetables.

Reports to: Reliability Manager

The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for supervising day-to-day maintenance activities and will drive department continuous improvement initiatives and enable efficiencies by applying sound reliability principles. The Maintenance Supervisor will have direct supervisory responsibility of the Maintenance Technicians, Electrical & Refrigeration Technicians.

The Maintenance Supervisor will support all policies, goals, and objectives of the company while representing the company knowledgeably and professionally.

Responsibilities:

• Supervises the performance of maintenance employees.
• Responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of all plant equipment.
• Responsible for the preventative maintenance program and schedules to ensure that critical equipment and machinery are properly maintained.
• Sets work priorities and schedules for maintenance and repair.
• Support production by making repairs, adjustments, and changeovers to equipment on the production line.
• Comply with HACCP plans, GMP's and pre-requisite programs.
• Assist the SQF Practitioner and Quality Manager with third party audits.
• Assist in maintaining inventory system of all critical parts and supplies to ensure minimum and maximum quantities are on-hand.
• Establish routine, open two-way communication with Production Supervisors and Managers to obtain feedback on equipment and machinery performance.
• Offers recommendations and makes changes to improve plant operations in respect to quality, efficiency, safety and/or sanitation.
• Confers with equipment and other manufacturers to recommend improvements in materials or reduced costs.
• Monitors and evaluates all inspections, including safety and sanitation for accuracy and implements corrective action.
• Makes recommendations for Maintenance Budget and Capital Budget.
• Train hourly employees in technical matters, safety and sanitary practices as it relates to equipment.
• Responsible for maintaining lock-out/tag-out procedures, MSDS records, safety committee meetings, etc.
• Responsible for conducting the plant-wide safety audit program to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other regulatory agencies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• A combination of relevant experience and education will be considered in lieu of an associate's degree.
• 5 years of maintenance operations experience in a large-scale industrial continuous process manufacturing environment.
• Food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with maintenance procedures for processing equipment such as ammonia refrigeration, packaging equipment, and heavy industrial equipment.
• Estimate time and materials for specific jobs while considering cost implications.
• 5 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role.
• Able to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people and communicate information to obtain positive results.
• Strong continuous improvement mentality.
• Experience with reliability principles.
• Foundation of planning and scheduling practices.
• Experience with equipment maintenance plan.
• Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance processes.
• Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• General knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations for construction and manufacturing.

Physical Demands:

• This position requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
• Ability to work around and on industrial equipment.
• Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders up to 200 feet.
• Ability to work while standing on a continuous basis.
• Ability to enter confined spaces.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Must be willing to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
• Ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color on a computer monitor.
• Ability to communicate by using and hearing a 2-way radio system.
• Ability to respond to and support emergency issues on a 24/7 basis and work outside normally scheduled hours as needed.
