Must have a Masters degree and hold either a home & school visitor or social worker certification. REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF PUPIL SERVICES

WORK YEAR: 190 Days JOB SUMMARY/ACCOUNTABILITY: Efficient management and administration of district/state pupil attendance regulations. Supervise district attendance. Serve as the district’s liaison for homeless children and youths. QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree; knowledge of school attendance laws; data processing skills; experience with school personnel and outside agencies; home & school or social worker certification. Performance Responsibilities Maintain a professional awareness of regulations regarding child welfare and attendance by having a working knowledge of Pennsylvania state laws and school district policies. Conduct Student Attendance Improvement meetings and develop Student Attendance Improvement Plans (SAIPs) in consultation with building-based teams. Assist staff in collaborating with community resource providers and social work agencies. Confer with counselors, teachers, administrators and other appropriate personnel regarding student problems. Serve on Student Assistance Program Teams and MTSS Core teams when appropriate. Participate in the tracking of students admitted and released from juvenile centers and out-of-district placements. Investigate residency problems. Locate students who are registered but do not return to school at the beginning of the school year. Assist schools in interpreting and enforcing the compulsory attendance laws of the State of Pennsylvania by accepting referrals for truancy from the principals and Core teams, investigating referrals, preparing recommendations, participating in district truancy hearings, and representing the school district in juvenile court truancy cases. Conduct dropout research for the district. Act as liaison with the office of Children and Youth when abuse cases are reported. Investigate and help provide services to families and students during emergencies for food, shelter, housing, clothes and medical assistance. Assist when necessary in cases involving missing children/run‑aways. Coordinate with local service agencies and other entities to provide services for homeless children and youths. Identify and support students who qualify for supports through the McKinney‑Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Work collaboratively with other school districts on issues of prompt identification, transfer of records, transportation and other inter‑district activities for students identified under McKinney‑Vento. Ensure that public notice regarding Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) is disseminated in locations frequented by parents/guardians of homeless children and youths and unaccompanied youths, including schools, shelters, public libraries, and soup kitchens. Provide reliable, valid and comprehensive data to the Coordinator of Pennsylvania’s ECYEH Program in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Pupil Services. ADA Requirements Sedentary: Involves sitting most of the time. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Light work: Requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work while mostly sitting. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Medium work: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Heavy work: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Very heavy work: The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
