Supervisor Technical Engineering - 3rd Shift

JOB SUMMARY The Supervisor Technical Engineering-3rd Shift is responsible for managing engineering activities, including new product introductions, cost reduction, technology/research, and lifecycle product support. The position requires a blend of technical engineering knowledge and people‑leadership skills, proficiency in continuous quality systems, cost‑reduction strategies, and project and business planning management experience. It also works closely with the business group and functional leaders (service, operations, supply chain, finance) to provide leadership and management for the engineering function. The supervisor develops and implements a methodology that ensures superior product quality while fostering innovation within the engineering department. The position is located at the Waukesha, WI site and works the 11:00pm – 7:00am shift. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AAS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent 10 years of engineering experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 3 years of leading a technical team 5 years of experience with test instrumentation, data acquisition, and electro‑mechanical test 5 years of experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and scheduling software 5 years of experience with equipment maintenance and calibration ESSENTIAL DUTIES Execute the established vision and strategy. Drive results that are specifically targeted to support the product development cycle for the business group market. Effectively manage the development process (e.g., develop time‑compression techniques, design/application standards for improved repeatability, manage the process locally in a single location). Manage expenses, ensure regulatory compliance and support corporate goals. Provide engineering leadership and design input for new product development projects. Create and maintain development schedules. Execute product development plans (schedule, product cost, resources to complete the project, quality targets, product specification adherence, development and proof‑out of product validation test plans, etc.). Interface with internal company personnel. Ensure optimal application of technology and engineering resources to meet product development requirements per the sales/marketing plan. Work with cross‑functional teams to support a product development roadmap that targets customers’ needs. Work with leaders to support significant growth opportunities in the business group marketplace. Foster collaboration between engineering departments to identify and harvest new engineering concepts, technologies, techniques, standards and procedures. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; use hands to manipulate objects or controls; stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may need to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25–50 pounds and perform frequent computer‑based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
