Breast Ultrasound Tech

Job Overview Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a part‑time PRN Breast Ultrasound Tech at our Layton B location. Responsibilities Perform breast ultrasounds. Ensure patients are properly prepared for exams and procedures. Ensure all finished ultrasound exams are of high diagnostic quality and that all administrative work for each exam is in order. Recognize and document abnormalities and anomalies. Effectively and compassionately communicate with patients, physicians, and radiologists. Review patient’s medical history and physician’s instructions; prepare equipment for the procedure; select appropriate equipment settings; explain the procedure to the patient and record any medical history that may be relevant to the condition being viewed; direct the patient to move into positions for image quality. Spread gel on the skin to aid the transmission of sound waves. Operate equipment to direct non‑ionizing, high‑frequency sound waves into areas of the patient’s body; the equipment collects reflected echoes and forms an image that may be recorded, transmitted, and imaged for interpretation and diagnosis by a radiologist. View the prior ultrasound imaging and be able to correlate with mammography images; select images to show to the physician for diagnostic purposes; measure and communicate features of the area imaged. Keep patient records and adjust/maintain equipment. Comply with safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies/procedures. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Degree in Sonography from an accredited school. Experience: Prior breast ultrasound experience is preferred. Other Requirements: Current ARDMS certification. Knowledge: Anatomy, physiology, instrumentation, basic physics, patient care, and medical ethics; safety, infection control, and quality improvement practices. Skills: Communication and interpersonal interactions; gathering and analyzing patient data. Abilities: Explain technical procedures and results to patients in a user‑friendly manner; calm patients who may be nervous about the procedure; use correct body mechanics to assist patients appropriately. Equipment Operated: Sonography equipment including ultrasound machines, transducers, gels, and computer hardware/software. Work Environment: Communicating with patients, staff, and radiologists; may include assisting with biopsy procedures; exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, and other conditions related to clinic settings. Mental/Physical Requirements: May stand for long periods and may have to lift/turn disabled patients; work primarily at diagnostic imaging machines involving standing, sitting, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching; some stress related to dealing with anxious patients. #J-18808-Ljbffr
