The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations at Bahde Wildlife Center including wildlife rehabilitation specialists, admissions, satellite care, volunteers and education programs. What you’ll do: Directly supervise the Wildlife Rehabilitation Supervisor and the Satellite & Admissions Supervisor, and manage wildlife rehabilitation staff, admissions staff, and rehabilitation/admissions volunteers. Support the Wildlife Rehabilitation Supervisor and Satellite & Admissions Supervisor by providing staff with guidance, coaching, mentoring, monitoring of performance, training and instruction, orientation, conducting performance evaluations, and issuing corrective actions, up to and including termination as needed. Partner with Supervisors to create professional development for staff, process development, and setting team goals. Provide orientation, training, and feedback for assigned volunteers and externs in collaboration with the Supervisors. In collaboration with the Associate Director, prepare the annual budget that is part of their functional area and maintain expenses within budgetary guidelines. Responsible for oversight and management of the Bahde Operations budget. Responsible for oversight and management of animal care supply and inventory. Assist the Wildlife Services coordinator with ordering for the department as well as reconciling the monthly Amex statements. Participate in the internal process of evaluation of animals for euthanasia. Assist with and perform euthanasia of animals according to AVMA guidelines. Maintain SDHS certification as a certified euthanasia technician. Manage all wildlife movements including releases and introductions, and consult with the Associate Director for all animal transfers. What we’re looking for: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Conservation, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Zoology or other related field and four (4) years of full time related experience working with animals in a wildlife rehabilitation, wildlife sanctuary, zoo, shelter, or veterinary hospital, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. One (1) year of supervisor experience required, two (2) years preferred. Experience using the Wildlife Medical Data Base (WRMD) is preferred. Must be willing to get rabies pre‑exposure series or produce a copy of current rabies pre‑exposure series vaccine or titers record. Once employed, must be willing to have rabies titer levels checked every two years and receive boosters as needed. Must have a valid driver’s license and be approved by SDHS insurance carrier to drive a company or personal vehicle for work purposes and be comfortable using a personal vehicle to transport animals. Location & Hours Based at our San Diego Campus with expected travel to all SDHS campuses and off‑site locations. This position works 40 hours per week. Pay Starting range is between $70,304 – $79,092 per year. The listed hiring range for this position depicts the target range of pay rates for candidates. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. Compensation for internal candidates may increase beyond the listed range based on performance over time.
