Director of Software Engineering

The client is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to help lead their technical evolution and ensure engineering excellence within the company. Based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and Juneau, Wisconsin, the client operates primarily onsite with a focus on collaboration and innovation. As a key leadership role, the Director will work closely with the VP of Software Engineering to oversee the development of scalable and resilient architecture, facilitating seamless data flow and integration across teams, and ensuring all technical systems are interconnected and provide accurate business insights. The Director's responsibilities include orchestrating the development rhythm for backend and frontend systems, ensuring cohesive APIs, predictable integration cycles, and high-quality execution. A key focus is on building a robust internal metrics infrastructure, which supports functions such as Finance, Operations, and Product Management to access trusted data insights efficiently. Additionally, the role involves driving the adoption of new technologies, fostering a culture of data clarity, and maintaining technical precision to build systems that power the client's product offerings and operational confidence. This position requires a professional capable of leading software solution design and implementation, managing resources, and ensuring projects align with strategic objectives regarding quality, budget, and timelines. The Director will advance software capabilities into areas such as sensor fusion, machine learning, and IoT connectivity, with a goal of enhancing in-app experiences related to pet health and well-being. This leader will also focus on team growth by recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineering talent while balancing immediate needs with long-term strategic goals.
