CAD Designer/Drafter

Carrier Process Equipment Group (CPEG) offers customers a comprehensive line of large industrial processing equipment for a wide variety of industries. By combining engineering expertise including high tolerance fabrication and assembly, we design and manufacture custom bulk processing equipment and custom fluid solutions.

We are looking for a CAD Designer/Drafter at our Mathiston, MS location to support the Sly division. This is an onsite position that is responsible for working with project engineers, the drafting manager, and R&D engineers to develop detailed and complete 3D models and 2D drawings for manufacturing use. The CAD Designer/Drafter position requires extreme attention to detail. Ideal candidates should require little supervision, demonstrate initiative, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.- 4 p.m.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in design reviews with project engineers to examine customer specifications and ask questions.
  • Develop accurate 3D models based on design conditions and criteria given by project engineers.
  • Develop detailed 2D drawings based on 3D models for manufacturing use.
  • Provide project engineers, R&D engineers, and manufacturing shop with support as needed.
  • Work with R&D engineers and drafting manager when application or design challenges arise.
  • Follow product drawings, sketches, engineering ideas and verbal instructions.
  • Modify 3D models and 2D drawings as needed for customer changes, as built drawings, or manufacturing needs.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a field related to engineering or manufacturing. Relative work experience will also be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in CAD systems (Inventor/AutoCAD) or related experience/training.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to multitask, solve problems, organize, and prioritize cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Understanding of the design and manufacturing process.
  • Ability to reason mathematically with high speed and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including ASME welding standards, metal forming, and structural systems.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication methods and materials.
  • Prior experience in air pollution equipment.
