Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (HVAC & Plumbing/MEP)
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL area
Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire
Pay range: $75,000 - $85,000

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist senior engineers in developing permit and construction documents for commercial mechanical systems
• Perform HVAC load calculations (e.g., Carrier HAP) and assist with system sizing
• Support plumbing system design, including domestic, sanitary, and natural gas
• Assist with hydronic and piping system layouts (chilled water, hot water, condenser water where applicable)
• Support:

o Equipment selection (RTUs, AHUs, boilers, pumps, fixtures, etc.)
o Ventilation and plumbing schedules
o Pipe sizing and duct sizing

• Prepare detailed engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCAD MEP
• Design systems with a focus on:

o Constructability and installation sequencing
o Prefabrication and modularization opportunities
o Labor efficiency and field productivity alignment

Project Coordination & BIM
• Participate in BIM coordination and clash detection across trades
• Assist with coordination using Navisworks (preferred)
• Coordinate designs with architects, structural engineers and electrical engineers
• Ensure proper integration of ductwork, piping systems, and equipment clearances
• Incorporate coordination feedback to improve field install efficiency and reduce rework

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 2–4 years of experience commercial construction experience in: o Mechanical (HVAC) design – required o Plumbing / piping system design – preferred Technical Skills & Software Proficiency
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD MEP, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Bluebeam for document review and markup
• Experience with:

o Carrier HAP (or equivalent load calculation software)

o Navisworks (BIM coordination) – preferred
