Gonzales ISD - Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) Job Title: Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) School: Gonzales ISD Date Posted: 10/27/2025 Deadline: Until Filled Openings: 1 Commitment: Full Time The primary purpose of this position is to perform professional psychological work in assessment, behavior management, and counseling for students with emotional, learning, and behavioral challenges. The role assesses the psychological and psycho‑educational needs of students referred to special education services and collaborates with instructional personnel to facilitate appropriate services that positively impact student outcomes. Qualifications for Licensed Specialist in School Psychology Education/Certification: Master’s Degree from an accredited institution. License: Valid Texas license as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) granted by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Knowledge: Procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes; prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions; psycho‑social development. Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience: One year of providing psychological services in an educational setting (three years preferred). Major Responsibilities and Duties Assessment: Receive initial student referrals, select and administer assessments and observations, develop evaluation reports and behavior management plans, participate in ARD Committee, collect and organize assessment data, serve on assessment team for Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities, facilitate Child Find. Consultation: Consult with parents, teachers, and staff regarding education needs, transitional planning, interpretation of assessment data, and implementation of behavior intervention plans; consult with psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, and community agencies; serve on special education site‑based management team; provide staff development training on IDEA. Program Management: Ensure compliance with federal and state mandated timelines; develop and coordinate evaluation of psychological services; implement and coordinate special education assessment, behavioral and counseling services; assist in selection of assessment materials; compile, maintain, and file all reports and documents; comply with policies and local board rules; supervise documentation related to ARD Committee; participate in professional development; assist in recruitment, selection, and training of personnel. Communication: Maintain professionalism and effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, students, and parents; monitor and update staff on current district effectiveness and compliance. Student Counseling: Conduct individual and/or group counseling for special education students with presenting needs as outlined in the EP; use counseling theories and techniques to facilitate access to grade level curriculum. Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide clinical supervision to LSSP practicum students and interns as needed; mentor new hires as warranted. Equipment Familiarity: Regular district travel to multiple work locations; moderate lifting and carrying of assessment materials; maintain emotional control under stress; experience working with eSPED, MS Office Suite, and Google email/drive.
