Position: Peer Support Specialist I Job Type: Full-Time / Non-Exempt Shift Details: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Wednesday | 7:00 am – 7:30 pm | Availability to attend court hearings when listed as a witness on a petition. Work Setting: Crisis – Recovery Response Center, Peoria, AZ Salary/Hourly Wage: $20.50 – $22.50/hour Specialty / Certification: Successful completion of Peer Employment Training to obtain Certification as a Peer Support Specialist. Summary of Job: The Peer Support Specialist I provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services, assists in creating a recovery environment, and advocates for the needs and rights of every individual. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Guest Care & Advocacy: Provide peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and help identify participant’s hopes and dreams. Teach recovery and life skills using recovery tools. Model hope, personal responsibility, and self‑advocacy. Assist in developing natural supports and community living. Cultivate connectedness in the person’s life. Compliance & Risk Management: Complete clinical documentation as required. Stay abreast of all federal, state regulations, and Recovery Innovations policies and procedures. Adhere to Recovery Innovations compliance standards. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve goals. Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Education/Licenses: Peer Employment Training certification. High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services. Skills: Basic computer skills. Ability to teach and train on recovery information and tools. Effective communication skills. Must pass de‑escalation training as defined by state requirements. Driving Requirements: Must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy if driving is required. Non‑driver attestation required if not qualified to drive. Miscellaneous Requirements: Minimum age 18 years unless state regulations differ. Travel required based on business needs. Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA) and professionalism. Second‑chance employer: must pass a seven‑year background check, substance abuse testing, fingerprinting clearance, education verification, and, if driving is required, a three‑year motor vehicle report. Physical Demands: Work may require eye‑hand coordination, handling, finger dexterity, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Work Environment: May involve office or behavioral health facility settings and interactions with agitated or confused individuals. Warmline Peer Support Specialists may work remotely. Addendums by State: Arizona: Must be 21 years or older; attend court hearings when listed as witness. California: Certified Medi‑Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification within 30 days of hire; art‑related experience required. Louisiana: Must be 24 years or older. North Carolina: Proof of valid driver’s license; up‑to‑date vaccination records including childhood vaccinations. Washington: Additional state registration for Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC).
