You will play a crucial role in:Designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BIDeveloping interactive dashboards, reports, visualizations, and analytical solutions that provide actionable insights to business and technical stakeholdersGathering and translating business and reporting requirements into scalable and reusable Power BI solutionsDeveloping semantic models, relationships, measures, calculated columns, and other analytical components using DAXUsing Power Query and M language to transform, cleanse, integrate, and prepare data for reporting and analyticsConnecting Power BI solutions to enterprise data sources, including SQL Server, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Dataverse, Excel, APIs, and other structured data sourcesDesigning efficient data models using dimensional modeling and star-schema principles to support enterprise reporting and analyticsDeveloping and optimizing SQL queries, views, and data transformations used by Power BI solutionsConfiguring and implementing row-level security (RLS) and other report and dataset access controlsPublishing and managing reports, semantic models, dashboards, and applications within the Power BI ServiceConfiguring and troubleshooting data refreshes, data gateways, connections, and scheduled refresh processesMonitoring and optimizing Power BI report, semantic model, and query performanceSupporting deployment and promotion of Power BI solutions across development, test, and production environmentsPerforming unit and integration testing and supporting user acceptance testing (UAT)Troubleshooting and resolving issues with reports, data models, data quality, refreshes, gateways, and data-source connectivityDeveloping and maintaining technical documentation, data definitions, report specifications, and solution documentationCollaborating with business analysts, developers, administrators, architects, data teams, and stakeholders throughout the solution development lifecyclePresenting analytical findings, dashboards, and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesProviding technical guidance and knowledge support to end users and junior staffWhat You'll Need To SucceedBring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Power BI Developer must have:Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field requiredExperience:3+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying business intelligence and analytics solutions requiredHands-on experience developing enterprise reports, dashboards, semantic models, and analytical solutions using Microsoft Power BIExperience integrating and transforming data from multiple enterprise data sourcesRequired SkillsStrong proficiency with Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI ServiceStrong proficiency with DAX for measures, calculations, and analytical logicStrong proficiency with Power Query and M for data transformation and preparationExperience designing semantic models, relationships, hierarchies, measures, and calculated columnsExperience with dimensional data modeling and star-schema designStrong SQL skills, including developing and optimizing queries used for reporting and analyticsExperience integrating Power BI with SQL Server, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Dataverse, Excel, APIs, and other enterprise data sourcesExperience implementing row-level security (RLS) and managing access to Power BI contentExperience publishing and managing reports, semantic models, dashboards, workspaces, and Power BI applicationsExperience configuring and troubleshooting scheduled refreshes, data connections, and on-premises data gatewaysAbility to troubleshoot and optimize Power BI report, semantic model, DAX, and query performanceUnderstanding of data quality, data validation, and reporting governance principlesExperience supporting deployment of Power BI solutions across development, test, and production environmentsFamiliarity with Power BI deployment pipelines and source/version control practicesFamiliarity with Agile methodologyAbility to translate business and reporting requirements into scalable, maintainable, and reusable technical solutionsAbility to communicate complex data and analytical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholdersExcellent communication skillsAbility to thrive in a dynamic environmentAbility to provide technical guidance and knowledge support to junior staffWillingness to stay current on Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and emerging analytics technologiesRequired Certification(s)Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400 or AB-400)ITIL v4 or v5 FoundationSecurity Clearance Level: Must be able to pass a background check to obtain a position of Public TrustLocation: Hybrid at customer site in Washington, D.C.
