Position Overview The Party Floor Manager is a high-profile leadership role responsible for overseeing the logistics, safety, and vibrant social culture of the convention’s official evening party floor. In this position, you will act as both an administrator and an on-the-floor supervisor –reviewing host applications, strategically assigning hotel rooms, and ensuring that all parties operate strictly within the convention's safety and community guidelines. Additionally, you will oversee the vital operations of the ASC Hydration Room, managing a dedicated staff team to keep attendees safe, refreshed, and hydrated throughout the night. Time Commitment Year-round: 1-2 hours per month for planning and communication As convention approaches: Gradually increasing to 3-6 hours per week Convention weekend: On-site presence is required with flexible hours Pre and post-convention: On-site presence is required to assist with setup and teardown activities the day before and the day after the event Key Responsibilities Your role will combine pre-convention planning, host management, and active team leadership: Application Review & Room Assignment: Evaluate party floor host applications prior to the event, coordinate with hotel teams, and strategically assign rooms based on theme, expected capacity, and other needs Guideline Enforcement & Compliance: Conduct routine walkthroughs of the party floor during operational hours to ensure hosts are adhering to the convention's code of conduct, noise levels, age restrictions, and safety protocols Hydration Room Oversight: Manage the physical setup, inventory control, and continuous operations of the ASC Hydration Room, ensuring water, electrolyte drinks, and basic safety supplies remain stocked for attendees Team Leadership & Scheduling: Oversee and manage the Party Floor Team. You will build and maintain shift schedules using department spreadsheets to guarantee the Hydration Room is fully staffed and active during all designated party hours Safety & Security Escalation: Act as the primary point of contact for the party floor, working in direct coordination with Safety, Hotel Security, and executive leadership to rapidly mitigate issues, handle rowdy crowds, or address room issues Qualifications Required: Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to manage a team of staff or volunteers, delegate shifts under fast-paced night conditions, and maintain high team morale Organizational & Administrative Skills: Strong logistical prowess; you must be highly comfortable handling application data and using Google Sheets to manage room assignments and shift schedules Firm & Diplomatic Assertiveness: Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication skills to enforce convention rules firmly, safely, and professionally with party hosts and heavily energized crowds Problem-Solving under Pressure: The ultimate ability to "think on your feet" and remain completely calm, authoritative, and polite when managing logistics, attendee complaints, or sudden scheduling shifts during late-night operations Preferred: Fandom & Convention Knowledge: A deep understanding of convention party culture, room-host dynamics, and community safety expectations, allowing you to anticipate potential issues before they arise Risk Management or Hospitality Background: Prior experience in event safety, hotel hospitality, nightlife management, crowd control, or party floor management Conflict Resolution Skills: Outstanding de-escalation skills to navigate high-stress situations, personality conflicts, or policy discrepancies with absolute tact and composure What We Offer While this is an unpaid volunteer position, we provide: Free convention membership and staff perks Staff hospitality (meals/snacks during your shifts at-con) Exclusive staff events and social opportunities Recognition in convention materials Experience in event management and team leadership A supportive, creative community environment References and recommendation letters upon request Anthro SoCal is committed to creating an inclusive environment.
