The Construction Project Manager is responsible for full project lifecycle delivery on heavy civil and infrastructure projects, including grading, excavation, utilities, drilling and blasting, railroad construction, and related sitework. This role is responsible for schedule, budget, safety, quality, and overall project performance from preconstruction through closeout.

The Project Manager serves as a primary client-facing contact and works closely with the project superintendent, field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and design partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts from project award through closeout
• Lead preconstruction planning, including scope review, value engineering, and constructability analysis
• Coordinate with clients, engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders
• Negotiate, issue, and manage subcontracts, purchase orders, and material procurement
• Track project costs against budget and manage financial projections
• Process pay applications, change orders, and project claims
• Coordinate daily with superintendents and field crews to maintain production schedules and project objectives
• Serve as a primary client contact, leading progress meetings and managing project communications
• Monitor project progress and proactively identify schedule, cost, quality, and resource issues
• Ensure compliance with contract documents, permits, specifications, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
• Promote and enforce jobsite safety standards across assigned projects
• Review and approve project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, daily reports, and closeout documentation
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners
• Mentor and provide guidance to project engineers, coordinators, and other project support personnel
• Maintain accurate project records and provide regular project status updates to leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and field experience
• 5+ years of project management experience in heavy civil, sitework, infrastructure, or related construction
• Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships
• Working knowledge of grading, excavation, utility construction, and heavy civil construction methods
• Proficiency with construction project management and scheduling software such as Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to active jobsites as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with railroad construction, trenchless boring, or drilling and blasting
• OSHA 30 certification
• PMP or CCM certification
• Experience with design-build project delivery
• Experience managing DOT, municipal, infrastructure, or heavy industrial projects
• Experience with large-scale earthwork, utilities, site development, or infrastructure projects

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position involves a combination of office work and time spent at active heavy civil construction jobsites.

The work environment may include exposure to outdoor conditions, heavy equipment, uneven terrain, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions. The successful candidate must be able to walk active jobsites, navigate uneven terrain, climb into and out of equipment and excavations when necessary, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while on site.
