Metal Grinder
Pay: $18.00/hr
Schedule: 1st Shift
Status: Temp-to-Hire

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metal Grinder to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for grinding, smoothing, and finishing metal components to meet quality standards and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience using grinding equipment, reading blueprints, and performing quality inspections in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate grinding machines and hand tools to shape, smooth, and finish metal parts
• Remove excess material, burrs, and surface imperfections from metal components
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders
• Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality and dimensional standards
• Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools
• Maintain and clean grinding equipment and work areas
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Report equipment issues, defects, or maintenance needs to supervisors
• Assist with other fabrication and production duties as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in metal grinding, fabrication, or manufacturing preferred
• Experience using angle grinders, bench grinders, belt sanders, and similar equipment
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
• Knowledge of metal types and finishing techniques
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Ability to perform repetitive motions including grinding, bending, and lifting
• Comfortable working in a noisy and dusty manufacturing environment

Work Environment

• Manufacturing and fabrication shop setting
• Exposure to metal dust, sparks, and loud machinery
• Adherence to strict workplace safety standards is required

Preferred Skills

• Experience with polishing and finishing techniques
• Knowledge of welding and fabrication processes
• Forklift certification is a plus
