The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is staffed by a multidisciplinary care team that includes board-certified neonatologists (pediatricians specializing in the care of premature and sick newborns); certified pediatric physician assistants; and neonatal nurses.Job SummaryUnder the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital. This position develops a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.QualificationsEducationGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing.Associate's degree in Nursing.Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable.ExperienceOne year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed registered nurse.Licensure, Certification, RegistrationRegistered Nurse, State of CTCertified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)Additional certifications may be required in specific specialtiesLanguage SkillsMust be able to effectively communicate information in English.Knowledge, Skills and Ability RequirementsApplies the principles and practices of nursing.Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate patient care.Cares for a full patient assignment with expanding scope of responsibilities over time.Knowledge of high reliability.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
