Truck Driver Opportunity with Share Food Program

Share Food Program ("Share") is the leading hunger relief organization in the Greater Philadelphia region and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation. Share feeds hundreds of thousands of individuals each monthmore than half of whom are children and seniors. The ripple effects of the pandemic, record rates of inflation, and critical cuts to government assistance benefits have plunged even more people into hunger and poverty. Philadelphia has the second highest rate of poverty of any major city in the U.S., and food insecurity is a public health crisis. Our network of caring volunteers, dedicated professionals, and generous donors works to bring nourishing food to our neighbors in need.

Since 2022, the need for Share's services has increased by 120% and the need will only increase with the passage of recent legislation. Share is committed to being at the forefront of advocacy fighting against these policies and ensuring everyone has access to food. Funding for advocacy and expanding its major donor program are strategic goals for Share. Furthermore, Share has successfully completed two stages of its capital campaign to expand and revolutionize its Philadelphia warehouse headquarters at the heart of Share's operations, to help more neighbors in need.

Position Overview

Share Food Program is seeking a Truck Driver to join our team immediately at our Montgomery County warehouse. This position is responsible for completing deliveries and pick-ups throughout the Greater Philadelphia region, ensuring partner organizations receive food safely, accurately, and on time.

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver product to Share partner pantries and program sites
• Pick up and transfer product between partner and warehouse locations
• Unload deliveries using manual or electric pallet jack
• Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicles
• Use OnFleet, Google Maps, and company-provided mobile tools to manage routes and delivery status
• Safely maneuver and park vehicles, including backing into tight spaces when required
• Collect delivery signatures and return Bills of Lading promptly
• Communicate professionally with partner sites and report concerns to management
• Report delivery issues (rejected product, delays, accidents, etc.) to dispatch
• Maintain communication with dispatch regarding route updates
• Keep truck beds clean and free of debris
• Assist with warehouse duties including pallet wrapping, donation sorting, and general cleanup
• Follow all safety policies and procedures
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• Proven experience working in warehousing, manufacturing, or production
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong work ethic
• High emphasis on customer service
• Ability to meet deadlines and arrive within appointment windows
• Ability to use phone programs to update delivery status and confirm deliveries

Qualifications

• Valid Drivers License- DOT Medical Card Preferred
• Experience driving a truck outside of initial training period
• No major incidents in the last 12 months
• NO Preventable accidents within the last 36 months
• NO Clearinghouse violations
• NO more then 1 speeding ticket within the last 3 years
• NO cell phone violations within the last 3 years

Physical Requirements:

• Sitting, walking, standing
• Regular heavy lifting up to 60 lbs. at a time
• Ability to be trained on electric pallet jack and/or forklift

Environmental Risks:

Position includes potential exposure to loud noises and warehouse environments up to 75% of the time.

Compensation

Hourly Rate $20.00 per hour
