This Medical Assistant will be primarily based at our Salem location (331 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970), Monday through Friday, with occasional coverage at the Saugus location (1069 Broadway, Saugus, MA 01906) to support staffing needs. Candidates should be aware that there is a possibility that supporting the Nurse Practitioner during home visits throughout the North Shore region may be required in the future.The Medical Assistant will support a blend of clinical, administrative, and care coordination responsibilities. In addition to standard Medical Assistant duties such as rooming patients, assisting with direct patient care, and supporting face-to-face visits, this role will involve significant patient outreach. Responsibilities may include contacting patients with appointment reminders, assisting with scheduling diagnostic testing, managing in-basket tasks, supporting care coordination activities, and providing cross-coverage for other providers and office staff as needed.We are seeking a collaborative, team-oriented Medical Assistant who is comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced primary care environment. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of Medical Assistant experience and be comfortable working with complex patient populations while providing high-quality, patient-centered support.Summary: The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.Essential FunctionsAssists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent requiredAssociate's Degree Medical Assisting preferredCan this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?NoLicenses and CredentialsBasic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferredCertified Medical Assistant [National Certification] preferredExperienceDirect MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years requiredStrongly Preferred:Medical Assistant Course or diploma program or a minimum of 1 year professional experienceNational MA Certification via AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCTEpic experienceAmbulatory/Outpatient experiencePrimary Care experienceRemote TypeOnsiteWork Location331 Highland AvenueScheduled Weekly Hours40Employee TypeRegularWork ShiftDay (United States of America)Pay Range$22.75 - $24.94/HourlyGrade3At Mass General Brigham, we believe in recognizing and rewarding the unique value each team member brings to our organization.
