Maintenance Crew Member

Position Core Profile: The Landscape Technician is responsible for performing general landscape maintenance and installation duties on residential and commercial properties. This is an entry‑level role requiring hand‑on labor, use of landscaping tools and equipment, and adherence to safety standards. Under the supervision of a Crew Leader, the Landscape Technician supports the successful completion of daily work assignments and contributes to maintaining the health, appearance, and cleanliness of client properties. Daily Task Variety: Performs a wide range of physical tasks that contribute directly to the visual appeal and functionality of outdoor environments. Team‑Based Execution: Works closely with crew members and leadership to complete jobs efficiently, safely, and on time. Accountabilities Landscape Maintenance & Installation: Mow, edge, and trim lawns using walk‑behind or riding mowers, edgers, and string trimmers; Perform planting, mulching, weeding, watering, and soil preparation tasks; Assist with pruning shrubs, small trees, and perennials using hand or power tools; Rake leaves, remove debris, and maintain cleanliness of work areas; Apply mulch and other materials as directed; Support seasonal clean‑up tasks such as leaf removal and snow prep (if applicable) Equipment Operation & Site Support: Safely operate hand tools, backpack blowers, trimmers, shears, and other landscape equipment; Load, unload, and organize tools and materials for daily jobs; Assist with basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and vehicles; Follow direction from the Crew Leader and contribute to job site efficiency Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times; Adhere to company policies and supervisor instructions; Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately; Participate in daily job briefings or safety meetings as assigned This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned as dictated by business needs. Requirements Experience and Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred Experience: No prior landscaping experience required; training provided. Prior outdoor labor or groundskeeping experience a plus Licensing/Certification: Valid state driver's license preferred but not required Skills: Ability to follow instructions and work under close supervision Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team setting Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Good physical stamina and manual dexterity Ability to work in varying weather conditions and adapt to changing priorities Key Performance Metrics: Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively under supervision Basic knowledge of plants, turf, and landscape materials preferred Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn Effective communication and collaboration with crew members and supervisors. Consistent adherence to safety protocols and company policies on job sites. Working Conditions and Availability Disclosure: Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, as well as regular use of hands and arms to perform manual labor and operate landscaping equipment. Employees must be able to lift and carry materials and tools weighing up to 50 pounds, with heavier lifting being team‑assisted or reasonably accommodated. The role involves the operation of various landscaping tools and equipment such as trimmers, blowers, mowers, and shovels. It also requires sufficient visual acuity and hand‑eye coordination to safely perform detailed tasks and operate machinery. Additionally, the position may occasionally involve climbing or working at heights, including on ladders, slopes, or uneven terrain. Work is regularly performed outdoors and exposes the employee to a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and sun. There is potential exposure to noise, dust, pollen, and various plant and chemical materials commonly used in landscaping. The job may require working on uneven terrain, near traffic, or within active construction zones.
