Job Purpose and Summary At CVS Health, Pharmacy Managers in retail locations lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care by promoting best practices, driving performance, and ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory guidelines. The role focuses on patient health, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Live the purpose of improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through coaching and follow‑up. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfilment by directing the team to follow workflow procedures and using safety guardrails at every workstation. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with the broader healthcare team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, identifying and training Pharmacy Technicians to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory adherence to best practices, especially protecting cold chain products. Conduct onboarding for new Technicians and Pharmacists, ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure. Maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Rx District Lead as needed. Partner with Store Manager to develop a talent pipeline of cross‑trained colleagues and manage their training schedule for licensure. Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, managing performance through observation, feedback, and annual reviews. Maintain flexible scheduling while ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; write or delegate the pharmacy schedule. Review business reporting to identify operational gaps and develop action plans for workflow, service, patient care, and compliance. Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, encouraging feedback and taking action. Stay current with clinical and technical skills, including company‑required trainings and CMEs, and expand knowledge to better support patients. Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical services such as testing and prescribing where permissible. Comply with all federal, state, professional, and ethical regulations, including controlled substance recordkeeping and patient privacy protection. Essential Functions Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within the designated timeframe. Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time. Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients' reactions, responding appropriately. Communication Skills: Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Practice active listening, giving full attention, asking questions, and avoiding interruptions. Mathematical Reasoning: Use math to solve problems such as determining total tablets, dose, and additional bottles needed. Problem Resolution: Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options. Physical Demands: Mobile, upright for extended periods, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, move fingers repeatedly, lift up to 20 lbs., maintain visual acuity for documentation. Team Management and Leadership: Lead by example, set a positive tone for the team. Delegate tasks, empower members, encourage collaboration. Motivate and inspire adherence to standards and performance. Apply problem‑solving skills for innovative solutions. Adaptability, accountability, and take ownership of changing circumstances. Coach, reinforce, provide feedback, discipline, or terminate team members as needed. Any additional tasks directed by Supervisor or Manager. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. 1–2 years of experience as a Pharmacist. Preferred Qualifications Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM‑EL) program. 3–5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations as needed. Compensation & Benefits Anticipated Weekly Hours: 40 hours (full‑time). Pay range: $70.00 – $88.00 hourly (or equivalent annual salary). Eligible for bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive programs.
