Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

This position is for a Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) who will provide high-quality patient care in a stepdown unit. The role involves caring for patients who have undergone thoracic surgery and may require close monitoring and intervention.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the stepdown unit.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and respond to changes in their condition.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and recovery.
• Document patient assessments and interventions accurately and timely.
• Float to other designated units as needed, including J1-2, J33, and the Emergency Department to provide care to similar patient populations.

Schedule

This role involves a rotating schedule, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week. The shifts alternate between day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) hours. The facility will strive to honor requested shifts but reserves the right to rotate staff as operational needs arise. Travelers are expected to work at least every other holiday.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 months of permanent nursing experience in the specialty applying for.
• Current and active Ohio license or compact state license in hand.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) is required.
• Completion of an ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate assessment during orientation with acceptable scores on both.
