As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will perform the following duties:Material Inspection: Inspect asphalt, concrete, and aggregate materials to ensure they meet specifications and quality control plansTesting Verification: Observe technicians performing tests and confirm accuracy of procedures and resultsDocumentation Review: Record sampling methods, testing results, and compliance issues in required systemsQuality Assurance: Check supplier compliance with standards, verify documentation, and support annual inspectionsEquipment Calibration: Verify calibration of equipment used by both department staff and vendorsField Support: Assist with core drilling, project material reviews, and sampling activities at job sitesWork Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); orTwo years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); orThree years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; orThree years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; orOne year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training.Special Requirement:This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.Other Requirements:You must meet the PA residency requirement.
