RN Patient Care Unit

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Patient Care Unit (PCU) provides comprehensive nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team in a rural Critical Access Hospital setting. The RN acts as the primary nurse, delivering skilled care to patients while managing clinical responsibilities and collaborating closely with healthcare providers. This role requires a minimum of two years of nursing experience, competency in pediatric and adult life support, and the ability to work effectively in a high-elevation environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Patient Care Unit as the primary nurse.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and develop treatment plans.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient status and nursing interventions.
• Respond to emergencies and provide critical care support as needed.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort in a rural hospital setting.
• Comply with hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.
• Unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado or ability to obtain prior to start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; may be obtained upon hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Ability to safely function in a low oxygen environment at high elevation (8,000 feet).

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in rural or critical access hospital settings.
• Strong interdisciplinary communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with patient care in diverse clinical situations including pediatrics.

Special Considerations:

• Position requires working in a high-altitude environment (approximately 8,000 feet elevation).
• Not accepting any Return to Office (RTO) requests.
• Travelers are responsible for securing their own housing, with local housing costs being high.

Scheduling:

• Night shift position in the Patient Care Unit.
• Shift assignments are based on unit needs and staffing schedules.
