Working in close coordination with Application Subject Matter Experts, Cogito Project Manager and Business Analyst to develop understanding of financial and clinical workflows, business process flows and data relationships and operates in all phases of a Business Intelligence development life cycle which incorporates requirements definition, design, report development and deployment as well as support.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Work with Epic Hosted ETL developers to determine report and data design strategiesDevelop reporting and analytics solutions for CFVH's electronic health record (EHR) system by gathering business needs, documenting requirements, identifying appropriate data sources, developing reports and datasets, and delivering them to stakeholders or Business AnalystWork with Application Subject Matter Experts and Business Analyst to identify and understand source data systemsLook for opportunities to improve current processes or find efficiencies by applying industry best practices for BI developmentWork on security setup and maintenance, tool administration, and data modelingDevelop and implement Cogito/Tableau/ PowerBI application documentation and training materialsMaintain communication with management and users during development or maintenance cycleWork as part of the Data Governance Team to review, test, and evaluate reports, queries, dashboards, and analytical tools developed by teammates prior to moving to productionDevelop or assist in the creation of project time estimatesProvide post implementation support of user questions and fine tuning of processesCollect requirements and specifications to aid BI Director in prioritization and resource allocationCoordinate users' activities during application development and maintain data and system integrityMaintain knowledge on current computer hardware and software technologyOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Health Information Management or Statistics required OR 8 years' experience in lieu of formal education will be consideredEpic certification required OR if not currently certified in Cogito Fundamentals, Epic Clarity and Epic Caboodle, must obtain Epic certification within 3 months of training and must pass all certification exams with a passing grade within three attempts for each test from each class requiredWork Experience:5 years of experience in a healthcare related organization required5 years of demonstrated expertise in MS SQL Server requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English languageDemonstrated flexibility with respect to changing end-users needsAdvanced Proficiency in SQL, Python, Visual Studio, Tableau, PowerBI, Microsoft FabricKnowledge of data warehouse concepts, data structures and reportingDemonstrated knowledge of Architecture Design leveraging OneLake, Lakehouse and Data Warehouse componentsFamiliarity with Pipeline Engineering, ability to design scalable data integration and orchestration using Fabric Data Factory and Synapse Data EngineeringDemonstrates knowledge of Governance and Security and the use of Microsoft Purview is a plusExtensive knowledge of best practices regarding reporting, workflows, policies, procedures, systems and culture in the healthcare environmentStrong analytical, problem-solving and metadata skillsAbility to translate business questions and requirements into reports, views, and BI query objectsExperience in gathering, documenting, prioritizing and tracking requirementsStrong organizational skills and customer service orientationDemonstrated experience synthesizing and analyzing large data and making program recommendations based on that data is requiredExcellent written and communication skills explaining complex quantitative models to business stakeholders, management and executivesHigh functioning team skills, including active listening, rapport building, receiving and delegating work assignmentsFamiliarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams preferredPhysical Requirements:Ability to work independently, in a remote or office settingMay require flight travel to Verona, WisconsinAbility to see and read reports and computer display terminalsManual dexterity to keypunch data via keyboardMay require extended periods of sedentary work and extended working hours to meet stated objectivesRequired Licenses and CertificationsEpic Software - EPICCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
